The Homestead is a private and purpose built residential care home providing specialised care for elderly people suffering from past and present mental illnesses. The Home provides all aspects of care on a twenty-four hour basis. A team of one Director, Manager assisted by four deputies and a team of Care Assistants operate the home. Two Cooks, two Domestics, two Activities Co-ordinators and two Laundry Assistants also form part of the team.
The Home was opened in April 1986 and is registered with Walsall, Staffordshire and Birmingham Social Services. It has kept itself ahead with legislation and development within the care industry.
The Homestead is the only residential care home for the mentally ill within the Walsall Borough that has achieved the internationally recognised standard of ISO 9001:2008 and the nationally recognised standard: Investors In people.
All Staff receive training to meet current legislation. Training Includes: QCFs (formerly NVQs) in First Aid, Manual Handling, Food and Hygiene, Fire Safety Training, Bereavement Understanding, Skin Care Training, Dementia Training plus the Basic and Intermediate In-House Training.
